Douglass CLT is a registered 501 (c) (3) nonprofit membership organization founded on the principles of community control and involvement. Members are the backbone, heart and soul of the organization. They elect the board of directors, vote on by-law changes, serve as board and/or committee members and review the annual reports. Equally as important, members sustain the long-term goals of the organization through their voice and volunteering.
You choose how involved you want to be as a member –we recognize life can get very busy. If what you have to give right now is a just a statement of your support for our mission and efforts (along with voting in the annual meeting) we understand! Why is the Douglass Community Land Trust a Membership Organization?
The membership structure of the DouglassCLT is designed to shore up organizational sustainability and the ability to provide stewardship to properties in the land trust in perpetuity. Because members have legal standing to correct course if the organization goes astray, they serve as guardians for the community and make sure everyone benefits from the community development generations from now.
